The New Ambassador of Greece in Bucharest on an Introduction Visit to the Romanian Patriarchate

On 27 May 2013, His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel received at the Patriarchal Residence His Excellency Grigorios Vassiloconstanhakis, the Ambassador of Greece in Romania.

His Excellency thanked for reception and emphasised the traditional friendly relations between the two Orthodox Churches and peoples. In this sense, the Ambassador expressed his willingness to support the cooperation between the two Orthodox Churches and peoples within the European Union too.

His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel underlined in his turn the fraternal relations between the Romanian Orthodox Church and the Orthodox Church of Greece, which have been intensified a lot during the last 20 years through bilateral visits, participations in church events in Romanian and Greece, exchanges of students, pilgrimages etc.

In this context, the Patriarch of Romania mentioned the participation of His Eminence Dionisie, Metropolitan of Corinth, a few days ago, in the festivities organised at the Romanian Patriarchate on the occasion of the feast of Saints Emperors Constantine and Helen, the historical dedication day of the Patriarchal Cathedral (20 – 24 May 2013).

During the meeting both parts pointed out the important role of the Orthodox Church of Greece and of the Romanian Orthodox Church in the promotion of hope and social solidarity in order to overcome the effects of the long economical crisis which affects the majority of the citizens of the two countries.
