The Holy Light of Jerusalem Arrived in Romania

On Saturday, 4 May 2013, a delegation of the Romanian Patriarchate headed by His Grace Varsanufie Prahoveanul, Assistant Bishop to the Archdiocese of Bucharest brought to Romania, by a special plane, with the blessing of His Beatitude Daniel, Patriarch of the Romanian Orthodox Church, the Holy Light of the church of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem.

The plane landed at the Henri Coanda International Airport of Bucharest, around 19.40 hours. Delegates of the Deaneries of the Archdiocese of Bucharest and of other eparchies of the Romanian Patriarchates of the South of the country were in the official hall of the airport to receive the Holy Light and offer it to the priests and faithful.

“The delegation of the Romanian Patriarchate travelled to the holy city of Jerusalem with the blessing and care of His Beatitude Daniel, in order to bring the Holy Light this year, too. It is the 5th year on end that the Holy Light is brought to Bucharest leaving from here to the whole country. The Holy Light came down today, at 14.20 hours”, His Grace Varsanufie, Assistant Bishop to the Archdiocese of Bucharest said.

The Holy Light will be offered at the Resurrection service (24.00 hours) to the clergy and faithful present at the Patriarchal Cathedral by His Beatitude Daniel.

From the Henri Coanda International Airport, the Holy Light of Jerusalem is taken by three planes of small dimensions to Suceava, Satu-Mare (with stopover in Cluj-Napoca) and Timisoara for the Orthodox clergy and faithful in the North of Romania.
