The feast of the Cathedral of Oradea

During these days the Bishopric of Oradea celebrates 320 years since its first documentary attestation. The events dedicated to this event started on Saturday, 19 september 2015, with the blessing service of the restoration works of the Dormition of the Theotokos Cathedral, also known as the Cathedral with a Moon.

As TV TRINITAS informs, the service was officiated by the following assembly of hierarchs: His Eminence Laurentiu, Metropolitan of Transylvania, the delegate of the Patriarch of Romania to this anniversary, His Grace Sofronie, Bishop of Oradea, His Grace Siluan, Romanian Orthodox Bishop of Hungary, and His Grace Paisie Lugojanul, Assistant Bishop to the Archbishopric of Timişoara, along with hieromonks, priests and deacons. Also, local and central government officials, along with a large number of faithful were present.

In the last years, the Cathedral with a Moon of Oradea, a historical monument, was restored and strengthened, both on the outside and on the inside through the efforts of the Eparchy and a European cross-border project.

On this occasion, the faithful venerated the Precious Head of Saint Hierarch Andrew, Metropolitan of Transylvania. The relics were brought from Sibiu, with the blessing of His Eminence Laurenţiu, Metropolitan of Transylvania.
