The family, a sacred reality: Metropolitan Teofan’s message for 2024 Family Festival

“The family is a ‘sacred and blessed reality without which the normality of human life cannot be conceived,’ affirmed Metropolitan Teofan of Moldavia and Bukovina in a video message ahead of the 2024 Family Festival.

‘Father, mother, and their children, a holy place from which a person departs into a society filled with great strength, a holy place to which a person returns from society to receive renewed strength and resilience in life’s challenges,’ added His Eminence Metropolitan Teofan.

‘The family is both the most beloved and the most attacked place. The family is the most beloved because there, a person finds true love, joy, freedom, and peace. The family is the most attacked because the family’s enemies do not love life, faith, and the nation’s survival.’

On September 8th, the great feast of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary, the Metropolis of Moldavia and Bukovina organised the Family Festival in Iași, which was dedicated this year mainly to large families.

‘This is a blessed opportunity to confess these great and irreplaceable truths. Therefore, we invite you with love to confess together, to rejoice together, and to pray with gratitude to God for the great and blessed gift of life. God help us!'”

This year, the Family Festival is entering its fourth edition. It was organized by Pro Vita Iași, the pro-life support department of the Archdiocese of Iași, in partnership with Iași City Hall and the National Athenaeum of Iași.

The Pro Vita Department (Iași) of the Mission Sector of the Archdiocese of Iași was established in 2011 on Metropolitan Teofan’s initiative. It carries out projects that aim to save, protect, and improve life from the moment of conception until eternity.

Pro Vita Iași offers complex support, including financial and housing assistance, for women in crisis pregnancy, single mothers, and large families—including social grants for children from large families who have good school results.
