The Children’s Cathedral of Buzau Celebrated Its Protector

Tuesday, 12 April 2016, the Children’s Cathedral in Buzău celebrated its spiritual protector, Saint Martyr Sava.

According to Dragoş Olteanu, mass media counsellor to the Archdiocese of Buzău and Vrancea, the patronal feast began one day before, on Monday evening, with the celebration of the Vesper service united with the Artoklasia, by His Grace Sebastian, Bishop of Slatina and Romanaţi. On the patronal feast, the Divine Liturgy was celebrated by His Eminence Teofan, Metropolitan of Moldova and Bucovina, together with His Eminence Ciprian, Archbishop of Buzău and Vrancea, and His Grace Bishop Sebastian. The celebrating group included many priests and deacons, members of the eparchial Administration, professors of Bishop Chesarie Orthodox Theological Seminary, and of the deanery.

According to tradition, the commemoration service for the deceased founders and benefactors of the holy place of worship was celebrated. The liturgical answers were given by Saint Roman the Melodist psalmist missionary group.

On this occasion, His Eminence Metropolitan Teofan delivered a sermon on the life of Saint Martyr Sava, who lived in the 4th century and died a martyr’s death in the waters of Buzău River.

His Eminence Ciprian thanked especially the hierarchs who had come to participate in the feast of the Children’s Cathedral of Buzău and offered them an icon of Saint Martyr Sava and an icon lamp, as presents.

During the Divine Liturgy, His Eminence Archbishop Ciprian ordained deacon Alin-Ioan Enache priest for the parish of Jorăşti, Focşani II Deanery.
