St Gregory of Nyssa celebrated in Bucharest. Believers venerated the relics of the Saint

Many faithful from Bucharest participated Tuesday, 10 January 2016, in the Divine Liturgy celebrated at Lady Bălașa Church. The Very Reverend Archimandrite Ciprian Grădinaru presided over the Divine Liturgy in the concelebration of an assembly of priests. The Church celebrated one of its protector saints: St Gregory of Nyssa.

Rev. Dr. Nicolae Giolu delivered a homily focusing on the light that the works of St Gregory shed on the teaching about the Holy Trinity. The works of St Gregory inspired many Holy Fathers of the Church, he said. Father Nicolae stressed that the words of St Gregory are immortal and stand as witness for future generations. He also referred to the blessing that believers in Bucharest have since a fragment of the Holy Relics of St Gregory of Nyssa is sheltered at Lady Bălașa Church.

Lady Bălașa founded this church in 1750. She was the sixth daughter of Martyr Saint Constantine Brâncoveanu, Ruler Prince of Wallachia during 1688-1714.
