Solemn Services For The Heroes Of December 1989

Wednesday, 17 December 2014, 12.00 hours, on the occasion of the commemoration of 25 years since the repression of the revolutionary heroes of Timisoara, the bells will be rung in all the cathedrals, churches and monasteries of the Romanian Patriarchate as sign of gratitude, and solemn prayers will be said for the first revolutionary heroes who sacrificed themselves for the freedom, faith and dignity of the Romanian people oppressed by the communist regime.

Monday, 22 December 2014, 12.00 hours, the bells will be rung and a solemn service will be celebrated in all the Orthodox places of worship of the Romanian Patriarchate for the heroes of Bucharest and of other localities of the country, who sacrificed their lives 25 years ago for the nation, faith and country.

From 17-24 December 2014, the hierarchs, priests and deacons will celebrate solemn services at the cemeteries, monuments and road side shrines dedicated to the heroes of December 1989 all over the country, who sacrificed their lives 25 years ago.

In Bucharest, the solemn services for the heroes of December 1989 will be celebrated at the cross in the cemetery of the Young Heroes, at the crosses at the University Square and in the Roman Square, at the Monument raised in the honour of the Revolution Heroes, at the Radio and Television stations, at the Monument of the Gendarmes Heroes – Henri Coanda – Otopeni International Airport, etc.
