Patronal feast at Ss. Constantine and Helen Cathedral in Chicago

These days Ss. Constantine and Helen Cathedral in Chicago was adorned with joy for the feast of its heavenly protectors. The patron saints of the Cathedral were honored with great reverence this year. The feast started Friday, May 20th 2016 with Vespers and Lytia officiated by His Eminence Archbishop Nicolae and the priests of the Cathedral. After the service, Father Vasile Tudora from St. John the Baptist Church in Euless, Texas made a presentation on the topic of “The Christian Education of Children as the Vocation of a Spiritual Family”. The topic was well received by the faithful of the Cathedral, because many of them are part of young families with small children. At the end Fr. Vasile answered many questions around the topic.

The feast continued Saturday May, 21 with the Divine Liturgy. The same guest, Fr. Vasile, spoke at the end about the life and mission of the Holy Emperors. The joy continued also Sunday when the Divine Liturgy was celebrated by His Eminence Nicolae and the priests of the Cathedral. In his sermon, His Eminence talked about the responsibility of the heavenly calling that St. Constantine felt, about his Christian perspective on the organization of the empire and also about the many laws favorable to Christianity, laws that made possible the beginning of a Christian Empire.

The banquet that followed the Divine Liturgy also included a special Romanian cultural program prepared by the children and youth groups of the Cathedral. His Eminence welcomed the guests from Canada and from other Romanian Orthodox parishes from Chicago. He also thanked the volunteers that helped to organize such beautiful feast days and spoke about the great Christian family that is the Church community about which every Christian should feel very responsible.
