Orthodox priest wearing protective gear goes to COVID-19 patient at Timișoara infectious diseases hospital

At the request of a coronavirus patient, the Orthodox priest, who serves as chaplain at Timisoara’s infectious diseases hospital, put on the protective medical equipment and visited without any hesitation the person right in the hospital ward.

Father Dorian Oprisor received the approval of the hospital’s management. ‘At Victor Babes Hospital, we treat not only the body but also the soul,’ Dr. Virgil Musta told the local news website Timis Online.

“One of the patients infected with Covid-19 asked us to talk to a priest. The priest from our hospital dressed up and came to talk to the patient. The priest said that anytime when someone needs it, he will put on the protective overall, that we also wear, and will go to the ward”, said Dr. Virgil Musta from Victor Babeş Hospital in Timişoara.

At the “Victor Babeș” Infectious Diseases Hospital in Timișoara, approximately one hundred patients with Covid-19 are hospitalized. More than 400 people have been cured of coronavirus to date.
