New Father Confessors in the Archdiocese of Bucharest

Today, 11 August 2014, six priests of the Archdiocese of Bucharest were licensed father confessors. The religious service was celebrated by His Beatitude Daniel, Patriarch of Romania in the chapel of Saint Great Martyr George within the Patriarchal Residence.

To end with, the Primate of the Romanian Orthodox Church spoke about the importance of confession in the life of the faithful.

“It is badly needed to understand first this Holy Sacrament as a great gift of God, namely the forgiveness of sins as preparation of the human for spiritual growth, as well as for getting salvation. This is why the books of the first centuries said that to the Holy Communion, to the holy things only the holy ones should come close and if you are not holy repent your sins in order to be deified. Thus, in Orthodoxy repentance is closely related to the Sacrament of the Holy Communion. It is the anticipated lunch in the Kingdom of God, and this is why the priest or hierarch says when he is celebrating the Divine Eucharistic Liturgy: and give us to communicate us more fully or more truly on the never setting day of Your Kingdom. Thus, this forgiveness of the sins which is also liberation and a cleansing of sins is the condition of salvation. We think that it is very useful that the days remained till the end of the Fasting of the Falling Asleep of the Mother of God be used for helping the faithful know the joy of forgiving the sins and of being communicated with the Holy Sacrament of Eucharist”, the Patriarch of Romania said, according to Trinitas Radio station.

Those licensed father confessors received a Molifelnic book and a blessing cross on behalf of His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel.
