New Archbishop of Suceava and Rădăuţi will be enthroned Sunday

Archbishop-elect Calinic of Suceava and Rădăuţi will be enthroned Sunday in a ceremony after the Divine Liturgy at St John the New Monastery in Suceava. The ceremony will be led by His Eminence Metropolitan Teofan of Moldavia and Bukovina.

The Holy Synod of the Romanian Orthodox Church elected His Grace Bishop Calinic of Botosani as the new Archbishop of Suceava during its working session on July 21.

Archbishop-elect Calinic (Constantin) Dumitriu was born in Iasi on November 18, 1957.

On March 25, 2991, he was ordained to the episcopate in the Metropolitan Cathedral of Iași, and appointed assistant bishop of the Archdiocese of Iași.

He served for 30 years as assistant bishop to the Archdiocese of Iasi.

The episcopal see of Suceava became vacant following the repose of the nonagenarian Archbishop Pimen Suceveanul on May 20.
