Metropolitan Ilarion of Volokolamsk on a Visit to the Romanian Patriarchate

Friday, 5 September 2014, His Beatitude Daniel, Patriarch of the Romanian Orthodox Church received at the Patriarchal Residence of Bucharest the visit of a delegation of the Russian Orthodox Church headed by His Eminence Ilarion, Metropolitan of Volokolamsk, President of the Department for Church Foreign Relations of the Moscow Patriarchate.

The Patriarch of Romania welcomed the guests and conveyed his brotherly salute to His Beatitude Kiril, Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia.

During the meeting both parts discussed about the participation of the delegations of the two sister Orthodox Churches in the International Joint Commission for Orthodox – Catholic Theological Dialogue to be held in Aman, Jordan, from 15 – 23 September 2014.

His Eminence Ilarion thanked for the warm reception and expressed his joy to have seen Romania again, pointing out the importance of the spiritual unity between the sister Orthodox Autocephalous Churches, especially in regard to the challenges of the contemporary society.

His Eminence Metropolitan Ilarion has come to Romania in order to participate in Iasi city, in the launching ceremony of two of his books translated into the Romanian language and published at “Doxologia” publishing house: The Spiritual World of Saint Isaac the Syrian and the Mystery of Faith.
