France canonical bishops announce Orthodox Youth Days 2023

The Days of Orthodox Youth will be held in the first semester of 2023, according to decisions made by the Assembly of Canonical Orthodox Bishops of France (AEOF).

The assembly members, who gathered on September 20 under the chairmanship of His Eminence Demetrios, Greek Metropolitan of France, announced that the representatives of the canonical Orthodox Churches in France work to encourage and support initiatives that highlight the real and profound ecclesial unity of Orthodoxy in France, which binds the different member jurisdictions of the AEOF.

In this spirit, the Orthodox Youth Days will also be organised in the first semester of next year. The series of events will bring together young people from all over the world.

A news statement issued following the AEOF conference said that the event “will be a chance for liturgical concelebrations as well as for periods of sharing and meditation around timely issues that concern our testimony, here and now.”

“The Orthodox bishops of France are also delighted with the initiatives taken by the young Orthodox in France, who seek the episcopal blessing of the members of the AEOF for their activities.”

The canonical Orthodox bishops of France also spoke about the state of the Orthodox Churches, reaffirmed the need for peace and harmony in Europe and the rest of the world, mourned the conflict in Ukraine, and prayed for an end to it.

AEOF members exhorted the faithful to look past the hardships of the present and unite in prayer and service in a spirit of fraternity and love.

The Assembly’s subsequent gathering is scheduled for November 2022.
