Father Alexandru Argatu from Boroaia, one of the children of the famous Romanian confessor and exorcist Ilarion Argatu, passed away last Tuesday, August 11, at the age of 75 following a car accident.
The car crash took place in the village of Onișcani in Bacău County, Monitorul de Suceava reports.
Father Alexandru Argatu was born in the village of Ioneasa, Vadu Moldovei commune, and served for over 40 years at the “Ascension of the Lord” Church in the centre of Boroaia commune.
Upon hearing the sad news, numerous messages of condolence were sent online.
Father Alexandru was the eldest of the five children of the famous elder Ilarion Argatu. He wrote several books, both testimonies about his father’s life, but also advice and teachings that the he gave to those who sought him.
Father Alexandru Argatu completed the works at the church in the centre of Boroaia commune, whose construction had been started by his father. Archimandrite Ilarion Argatu was buried at this church in May 1999, at the age of 86.
