Canonical Visit To The Diocese Of Salaj Came To A Close

The canonical visit of His Beatitude Daniel, Patriarch of the Romanian Orthodox Church, to the Diocese of Salaj came to a close. Today, 16 September 2013, before coming back to Bucharest, the Patriarch of Romania visited the seat of the Metropolitanate of Cluj and met the students of the Orthodox Theological Seminary of the city whom he occasioned, at the beginning of the school year, to pray to the holy relics of Saint Hierarch Nectarie from Eghina, brought from the Patriarchal Cathedral.

“We wish you good health, help of God and especially much progress in your spiritual and intellectual formation. Whoever wants to kiss the relics of Saint Nectarie can do that now and those who pray receive a leaflet of the life of Saint Nectarie from Eghina, the Healer of diseases”, His Beatitude said.

To end with the meeting, His Eminence Andrei, Metropolitan of Cluj, Maramures and Salaj, spoke about the importance of the visit of the Patriarch of Romania for the faithful of the Diocese of Salaj: “The presence of His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel here these days was an opportunity of joy and a spiritual blessing for our Metropolitanate. From a pastoral and missionary point of view, the impact of His Beatitude’s presence and his encouragement and teachings for the Christians of Zalau and of Jibou were very important. We glorify God and pray Him to keep His Beatitude in good health, honest, for many years to come, teaching the Truth.”

His Grace Petroniu has also thanked His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel for the canonical visit paid to the Diocese of Salaj: “We glorify God for this wonderful visit to Salaj, as this is the first visit of a Patriarch of Romania to Salaj. It was a great honour and joy proved by the large number of faithful present at the three religious services: at the Te Deum celebrated on Friday evening, at the re-consecration and Divine Liturgy of Saturday morning at the Eparchial Centre and re-consecration and Divine Liturgy at Jibou. We thank God and His Beatitude, His Eminence Metropolitan Andrei and all the faithful who were so close to us these days, as well as the priests who concelebrated the holy services.”
