Bishop Justin travels by horse-drawn carriage on ‘Way of Wooden Cathedrals of Maramureş’

His Grace Bishop Justin and his auxiliary bishop Timotei of Satmar joined young people in a pilgrimage entitled ‘The Was of the Wooden Cathedrals of Maramures’ organized by the diocese from August 16 to August 20, 2019.

The event gathered 50 young people from Baia Mare with outstanding learning outcomes or who have made a significant contribution to the organization of youth activities in 2018, and over 800 young people from the rural communities included in the route.

The sights included various monasteries such as Rogoz, Plopiș, Breb, Budești, Bârsana, Serbi, Glod, Poienile Izei, Botiza, Rozavlea, Ieud, Bogdan Voda, Săliștea de Sus, Moisei, Borşa.

The pilgrimage was organized in the context of the 2019 Solemn Year to highlight the beauty of the cultural and spiritual values of the villages in Maramures.

At each church a memorial service was officiated in the memory of the founders.
