Bishop of Bălți prays for hierarchs who shepherded Bessarabia at Bucharest cemetery

Bishop Antonie of Bălți prayed on Thursday for the hierarchs who once shepherded Bessarabia and who are buried at the cemetery of Cernica Monastery, near Bucharest.

Bishop Antonie lit a vigil lamp at the graves of Metropolitan Gurie Grosu of Bessarabia (1928–1936), Metropolitan Tit Simedrea of Bukovina—who served in Bălți between 1935 and 1940—and Bishop Efrem Enăchescu (1944).

He asked the hierarchs who served in the Bessarabian lands to intercede before God for the success of the Metropolis of Bessarabia and, in particular, of the Diocese of Bălți, in their efforts to affirm ecclesial truth on the left bank of the Prut River.

During his visit to Cernica Monastery, Bishop Antonie also venerated the relics of Saints Callinicus of Cernica, George of Cernica and Căldărușani, and Dumitru Stăniloae.

The bishop expressed his gratitude to the abbot, Archimandrite Vasile Pârjol, and asked him to remember the people of Bessarabia in the prayers offered at the monastery.
