Annual Working Sessions of the Church National Council and of the Church National Assembly

The Press Office of the Romanian Patriarchate informs us:

Tuesday, 26 February 2013, the annual working session of the Church National Council of the Romanian Orthodox Church will be held in the Synodal Hall of the Patriarchal Residence, under the chairmanship of His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel.

The Church National Council is the central executive body of the Holy Synod and of the Church National Assembly, made up of 12 members of the Church National Assembly, one clergy and one laic representing each metropolitanate of the country, assigned for 4 years and two mandates at last.

The members of the Church National Council will analyse the activity of Romanian Orthodox Church in 2012 in regard to the pastoral-missionary and social-philanthropic activity, monastic life, theological education and teaching religion in the public schools, printing editorial and mass-media activity, church cultural patrimony, constructions of new places of worship, relations with other religious cults, care for the Romanian Orthodox communities abroad, inter-church and inter-religious relations, etc.

Wednesday, 27 February 2013, 10.00 hours, the annual working session of the Church National Assembly of the Romanian Orthodox Church will be held in Patriarch Teoctist Aula Magna of the Patriarchate Palace, under the chairmanship of His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel.

This Assembly is the central deliberative body of the Romanian Orthodox Church for administrative, social, cultural, economical and patrimonial issues, made up of the members of the Holy Synod and three representatives (one clergy and two laics) of each eparchy. The Church National Assembly will analyse the annual general Report of the Church National Council on the activity of the Romanian Orthodox Church in 2012 and will take decisions for the good development of the church life in 2013.
