Group of Carollers from Putna at the Romanian Patriarchate

On 19 December 2012, a group of carollers from Putna village, county of Suceava, carolled His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel at the Patriarchate Palace of Bucharest.

After finishing their recital of carols the Primate of the Romanian Orthodox Church thanked and blessed them: “Thank you very much for these beautiful chants and for the wonderful carols that you sang here. We are glad because you keep our Romanian traditions, especially those from Bucovina and because you combine devotion with the beauty of the folk songs inspired by the Christian Orthodox faith. Putna is a symbol of the Romanian people; the grave of Saint Prince Steven the Great is there which stimulates the feeling of the national dignity in every Romanian, as well as the duty to defend faith and convey it from generation to generation. We congratulate the priest who organised together with you this pilgrimage to the Patriarchate and this wonderful performance of the traditional carols. We wish you to spend the feast of the Nativity of the Lord with much joy, good health, and help of God, a blessed New Year, and the feast of the Baptism of the Lord with much light, peace and joy in the soul.

The choral group is made up of 40 children.
