Food Bank Moldova has recently donated 3.5 tonnes of fresh cherries to communities within the Diocese of Southern Bessarabia.
The fruit was delivered to 13 parishes in the Cahul, Cantemir and Leova districts of the Republic of Moldova.
Parish priests distributed the cherries to families and elderly people in the communities they serve, bringing joy and practical support to numerous households.
Bishop Veniamin of Southern Bessarabia expressed his sincere gratitude to Food Bank Moldova, all the benefactors and the clergy involved in the initiative, according to the Diocese’s Press Office.
Food Bank Moldova works to prevent food waste by redistributing surplus food. Between 2021 and 2026, it redistributed 583 tonnes of food, ensuring that surplus products reached vulnerable communities across Bessarabia.
