The Basilica News Agency’s Week in Pictures project has marked two milestones this week: eight years since its launch and the publication of its 400th edition.
Since its launch in July 2018, the project showcases each Monday a curated selection of the most representative photographs capturing the life of the Orthodox Church both in Romania and internationally. From major feasts and pilgrimages to moments of prayer, monastic life, missionary work, cultural events and charitable activities, the images create a visual record of contemporary Orthodoxy.
Over 400 uninterrupted weekly editions, The Week in Pictures has showcased thousands of photographs by photographers from the Basilica Media Centre, contributors from the dioceses of the Romanian Orthodox Church, and photographers from other Orthodox Churches and news agencies.
The weekly selections provide readers with a comprehensive view of the beauty of liturgical and community life across the Orthodox world.
Over the years, the project has become one of the Basilica News Agency’s signature features, valued both for the documentary significance of its photographs and for the way it captures the faith, joy and hope experienced by Orthodox communities across the globe.
The Basilica News Agency extends its gratitude to all the photographers and contributors who have helped produce these 400 editions, as well as to the readers who continue to follow and support the project. Through every photograph it publishes, The Week in Pictures continues to tell the living story of Orthodoxy beyond words.
