Romanian monastic cell dedicated to Saints Athanasius and Cyril under construction on Mount Athos

A Romanian monastic cell dedicated to Saints Athanasius and Cyril is being built on Mount Athos. The monastic settlement is located within the Romanian Lakkoskete, which belongs to Saint Paul Monastery.

The new cell is being constructed on land donated by the Lakkoskete, in a deep valley surrounded by chestnut forests, a setting suited for silence, prayer and monastic life.

The settlement will include a chapel, a refectory, living quarters for the monks of the cell and accommodation spaces for pilgrims.

“This Athonite work is being built through the love and sacrifice of those who choose to support the construction of the new cell. Every contribution, no matter how small, becomes a brick laid in the foundation of this holy place. Every day, at the Holy Altar, benefactors and all those who carry love for Mount Athos in their hearts are commemorated,” representatives of the cell said.

Those wishing to learn more about the new cell or support the project may access the website dedicated to the future monastic settlement.
