Bishop Veniamin of Southern Bessarabia on Sunday warned that an increasing number of young people are falling prey to addictions, distancing them from faith and family.
His Grace officiated the Divine Liturgy at the Parish of Saint Nicholas in Arenii Noi, Republic of Moldova.
Reflecting on the Gospel account of the healing of the demoniac boy, the Bishop of Southern Bessarabia stressed that healing begins with sincere and humble faith in God.
The Saviour responds to such faith through healing, highlighting the importance of prayer united with fasting.
Teachings of Saint John Climacus Remain Relevant
In this context, Bishop Veniamin cautioned that young people can easily fall into addictions, causing suffering both to themselves and to their families.
He also emphasised the enduring relevance of the teachings of Saint John Climacus, which focus on prayer, obedience, the cultivation of virtues and the renunciation of passions.
Also on Sunday, His Grace ordained Deacon Viorel Ghereg to the priesthood. He will serve in the Parish of the Holy Great Martyr Demetrius in Hîrbovățul Nou, Arenii Noi.
