His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel of the Romanian Orthodox Church has expressed condolences to Patriarch Rui Manuel Sousa Valério of Lisbon following a tragic accident in the Portuguese capital on September 3, 2025, which left 17 people dead and several others seriously injured.
In his message, Patriarch Daniel said he was praying for the repose of the victims and the healing of those injured.

With profound sorrow, I have received the news of the tragic accident that took place in Lisbon on the evening of Wednesday, September 3, 2025, in which seventeen people lost their lives and others were seriously injured.
In these moments of grief for the Portuguese people, we pray to our Lord Jesus Christ, the Crucified and Risen One, to grant rest to the souls of those who perished in this tragic event and to bestow swift healing upon the injured.
