Metropolitan Petru of Bessarabia conveyed a heartfelt message on Wednesday for the International Day of Families, emphasizing that “no matter how small and modest it may be, the home should be the most precious place on Earth for a loving family member.”
“It should be filled with love, peace, and understanding, so that wherever one goes and no matter how many years pass, their heart remains tied to this place. In all trials and troubles, the home remains the refuge of the soul,” the metropolitan of Bessarabia continued.
In today’s society, full of trials and challenges, “the Christian family must remain a bastion of faith and hope for eternal life. Among the great contemporary challenges are secularization, moral relativism, and attacks on traditional values.”
“It is essential to strengthen ourselves through common prayer, to deepen our thoughts in the reading of the Holy Scriptures, to seek guidance from the family spiritual advisor, and to strive to live according to the teachings of the Holy Fathers,” emphasized the Metropolitan of Bessarabia.
His Eminence Metropolitan Petru reminded that “the ultimate goal of our life is salvation, and the family is the most solid place where we can begin this journey to the Kingdom of Heaven.”
“Let us strive to raise our children in the fear of God, to love and support one another, so that we can enjoy the blessings of eternal life,” he urged.
“I urge you to strengthen the bonds of love and communion within your families, to pray together and seek the Lord’s help in all difficulties. Live beautifully, live in peace and love. In any circumstance, pray and seek to do God’s will. Only in this way will you find true peace and joy in this life,” the hierarch concluded in his message.
