With 2020 upon us, we share with you some of the most beautiful and liked posts on our Instagram page.

Simona Halep won not only the 2019 Wimbledon title but also our top position
Last year’s most-liked post is a photo of His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel and Wimbledon tennis champion Simona Halep at the bestowal of the highest distinction of the Romanian Patriarchate during a private ceremony at the patriarchal residence.

2) Romanian Patriarchate’s message of compassion and solidarity over the rape of teen Alexandra Măceșanu
The second most-liked post includes the Romanian Patriarchate’s call for prayer for teen Alexandra Macesanu, for her family and relatives.

In its message, the Romanian Patriarchate expressed worry over the increasing number of women who become victims of violence and human trafficking, which degrades human dignity and social peace.
3) Romanian People’s Salvation Cathedral
Even though in 2018 most of our top nine was comprised of photos related to the consecration ceremony of the new Orthodox Cathedral in Bucharest, in 2019 the National Cathedral ranked 3rd place, meaning it is among our followers’ preferences.

Metropolitan Teofan of Moldavia and Bukovina blessed a young girl after the festive Divine Liturgy celebrated at Putna Monastery on the feast day of Saint Jacob of Putna. This moment captured by the Basilica.ro photographer gathered more than 1350 likes.

Ranking 6 is a quote on prayer by Saint Paisios Velichkovsky of Neamt describing a beautiful photo taken inside the Metropolitan Cathedral in Iasi.

7) Romania’s larges mosaic icon of the Theotokos
The largest mosaic depicting the More Spacious than the Heavens Icon of the Mother of God that was applied on the half-dome that stands above the altar of the National Cathedral is ranked 7th in 2019 top nine.

The Panagia Platytera ton ouranon measures 16 meters high and was created by a team of artists coordinated by iconographer Daniel Codrescu.
