Heroes Of The Romanian People Commemorated By Children In Saint Spyridon The New Cathedral In Bucharest

Sunday, 12 June 2016, a festive programme dedicated to the Heroes’ Day was organised at the Metropolitan Cathedral of Saint Spyridon – the New in Bucharest. The event took place just after the Divine Liturgy. The main actors, children from 5 to 10 years old recited poems and sang patriotic songs – TRINITAS TV informs.

Although excited, the children were rather calm in the presence of the large audience. They recited and sang one after another being applauded by faithful. In the end they received presents on behalf of the servant priests.

Children like to play and be together. We, adults, must organise their games providing them useful things to change their playing into a learning process for their later development. Certainly, it is very important for them to learn about the heroes of our people, their deeds, and defence of their faith and country – Rev. Fr. Ionuţ-Gabriel Corduneanu, patriarchal administrative vicar, said.

The programme dedicated to the Day of the Heroes held at Saint Spyridon the New Cathedral is part of the catechetical activities unfolded within the Solemn year dedicated to religious education and the Christian Orthodox Youth.
