Gymnasium
studies at Brașov, Sibiu and Cluj, theological studies at the
University of Vienna (1832 – 1836). Secretary of Bishop Vasile Moga
(1836 – 1837), priest and archpriest in Brașov (since 1837), active
participant in the Revolution of 1848 (one of the ten secretaries and
member of the Romanian delegation sent to Vienna), co-founder of the
Romanian Gymnasium of Brașov, (1850), member of the Transylvanian Dieta
and member of the imperial Senate. In 1865, he becomes the prime titular
of the Romanian Orthodox Diocese of Caransebeș, and contributes to the
movement of the Romanian section of the Seminary of Vârșeț (1865) and to
the setting up of many “folk” schools. He laid the foundations of the
eparchial printing press and library (1885), as well as of the church
periodical “Foaia diocezană” (1886). He passed away on 5 February 1889,
in Caransebeș.
