Ukrainian Orthodox Church of USA celebrates its 100th anniversary

The Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the United States of America has celebrated the 100th anniversary of its founding.

“Over 1,000 parishioners and about 100 priests marked the 100th anniversary of foundation of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the USA and the 1030th anniversary of Christianization of Kyivan Rus-Ukraine,” the Voice of America reports, cited by ukrinform.net.

The faithful from all over United States as well as guests from Canada and Ukraine came for a three-day celebration.

Metropolitan Anthony, who leads the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the USA, called the attraction of young believers to the church its main task.

The Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the USA is a jurisdiction of the Ecumenical Patriarchate in the United States. It consists of two eparchies, including about 85 active parishes and missions. The Church’s head offices and Consistory are based in South Bound Brook, New Jersey.
