The belt of the Mother of God will be brought in the Archdiocese of Sibiu

The belt of the Mother of God will be brought from the Metropolis of Volos, Greece, to the Archdiocese of Sibiu, during 21 to 25 March 2016, with the blessing of His Beatitude Daniel, Patriarch of the Romanian Orthodox Church, and His Eminence Laurenţiu, Metropolitan of Transylvania.

The faithful of the Archdioceseof Sibiuwill have the occasion to venerate the holy belt of the Mother of God, which will be brought to Braşov, from 21 to 23 March, and to Sibiu during 24 to 26 March, by a delegation of the Kato Xenia Monastery, from the Metropolis of Volos, Greece, the Press office of Archdiocese of Sibiu informs.

The belt of the Mother of God will arrive to Braşov city on Monday, 21 March 2016, at 13:00 p.m. The relic will be brought at the Dormition of the Theotokos Church in Council Square and will remain there for veneration until Wednesday, 23 March, 22:00 p.m. The Greek delegation will carry the belt of the Mother of God to Sibiu, and it will remain at the Metropolitan Cathedral for veneration until Saturday, 26 of March 2016, 09:00 a.m.

A fragment of the Belt of the Mother of God is kept in Kato Xenia Monastery in Greece, and the other fragment is stored in Vatopedi Monastery of Mount Athos.

The reliquary containing the belt of the Mother of God from the Kato Xenia Monastery, Greece, was brought at Iaşi, during 12-15 October 2001, on the feast of the Metropolitan Cathedral. During 01-04 November 2016, the reliquary from the Kato Xenia Monastery (Volos, Greece) was also brought for veneration to Cluj Napoca.
