Decalogue for businessmen: full text
- Open countless accounts through the skill of multiplying talents, not only in the banks of this world but also in those of the Kingdom of God.
- Do not sell your right to inherit the Kingdom of God through your work, like Esau, but acquire eternal life through generosity and humanity.
- In everything you do, let conscience be the scale with which you weigh and appreciate people, things and situations.
- Be a moral man, correct and with a sense of duty to match so God will help you in your work.
- Wisely multiply the talents received from God here, and do not waste them by hiding them in the doormat or burying them, to find them in the Hereafter.
- Place at the highest position of honour on the scale of your values the love of God and your neighbours, your family near and far, as well as your employees, as reliable partners.
- Make helping your neighbour the ultimate goal of your life so that you will also perfect your wealth from a spiritual point of view.
- Be the guardian angel of the elderly forgotten in retirement homes, of the orphans and of the children abandoned or disowned by their parents, of the fellows suffering from merciless diseases and of those without any support.
- Gain an eternal memory by building churches and social-philanthropic houses, medical offices and hospitals, as well as by building or equipping schools, kindergartens or youth centres.
- Always offer to Christ, through your neighbour, something of what you have, like the young man who gave Him five loaves and two fish, and thus you will receive your due reward in the Kingdom of God.
