His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel performed Sunday, 11 June 2017, the blessing service of a memorial cross and the museum dedicated to the members of the spiritual movement The Burning Bush. His Grace Bishop Varlaam of Ploiești attended the service.
In his homily, the patriarch reflected on the activities of the Burning Bush Movement and stressed the need to honour more attentively and intensively the memory of the confessors and defenders of Orthodoxy. Referring to the members of the Burning Bush Movement, His Beatitude noted that many of them went through communist prisons and some even have died in jail. Others came out of prison and professed the faith, such as Father Sofian Boghiu, Father Dumitru Staniloae and others.
We ought to remember those who in difficult times have prayed much, have suffered much and have transmitted the Orthodox faith with dignity for the sake of God’s glory and for the well-being and strengthening of our Church, the Patriarch urged ending his speech.
The memorial cross is located close to the main church of the monastery. The museum was established in the bell tower of the monastery, in the monastic cell of Hieroschemamonk Daniil Sandu Tudor, the founder of the Burning Bush Movement.
