Following the Divine Liturgy on Sunday, December 1, thanksgiving services will be held in diocesan cathedrals, parish churches, and monastic places of worship across the country and abroad to mark Romania’s National Day.
These services will give thanks for the freedom and unity of the Romanian people and honour the heroes who achieved the Great Union of Romanians in 1918—key figures in Romanian history and creators of the nation’s cultural and communal heritage.
It is worth recalling that the National Cathedral in Bucharest, dedicated to the Ascension of the Lord – Heroes’ Day and Saint Andrew the First-Called, the spiritual protector of Romania, was built to honour the memory of Romanian heroes.
The Te Deum service will begin at noon at the Patriarchal Cathedral.
