Children and young people from Romanian Orthodox communities in Canada marked the beginning of spring with the 2026 Spring Religious Camp dedicated to Saints Andrew and John Cassian.
The event was organised on March 1–4 by the Romanian Orthodox Diocese of Canada at the Notre-Dame-de-la-Rouge Centre in Grenville-sur-la-Rouge, Quebec. The spiritual coordinator was Fr Grigorie Țăpuc, dean for Eastern Canada.
The camp programme included catechetical sessions on the meaning and teachings of Great Lent, presented through games and educational activities designed to stimulate the young participants’ curiosity and involvement. Creative workshops, a chess tournament, a campfire and storytelling evenings were also organised.
On the final day, the participants attended the Liturgy of the Presanctified Gifts, celebrated by Bishop Ioan Casian of Canada. The bishop encouraged the young people to keep in their hearts the joy and spiritual experience gained during the camp and to share it with their communities and families.
The spring religious camp offered an opportunity for spiritual formation and strengthened bonds among Romanian Orthodox youth in Canada, allowing them to live their faith actively and grow closer to the life of the Church.
