Romanian Patriarchate envoy attends New Year reception hosted by Israeli President in Jerusalem

The Very Rev. Archimandrite Ioan Meiu, the representative of the Romanian Patriarchate to the Holy Places, attended on Monday the official New Year reception hosted by His Excellency Isaac Herzog, President of Israel, and First Lady Michal Herzog.

The event took place at the Presidential Residence in Jerusalem, in the presence of the Director General of the Ministry of the Interior, Israel Uzan, and other state officials.

Among the participants were Patriarch Theophilos III of Jerusalem, leaders of other Orthodox communities, as well as representatives of other Christian denominations in the Holy Land.

“This solemn meeting represents an opportunity for dialogue and closer relations between communities, in a spirit of mutual respect, cooperation and the spiritual values that unite us,” Archimandrite Ioan Meiu wrote on Facebook.

Archimandrite Ioan Meiu, the representative of the Romanian Patriarchate to the Holy Places, also serves as superior of the Romanian Orthodox establishments in Jerusalem, Jericho and the Jordan Valley.
