Rev Prof. Ene Braniste Commemorated at the Faculty of Orthodox Theology of Bucharest

Today, 10 October 2013, Rev Prof. Ene Braniste was commemorated at “Patriarch Justinian” Faculty of Orthodox Theology of Bucharest, within a symposium organised at 100 years since his birth, in the presence of His Beatitude Daniel, Patriarch of Romania.

To start with the meeting, His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel delivered a speech entitled Rev. Prof. Ene Braniste – A great Teacher of Romanian Theology: “Father Ene Baniste was an erudite professor and expert in liturgy, serving the Holy Altar with devotion and solemnity, living the presence of the divine mystery in the middle of the righteous faithful. He had no children but he formed many disciples who have become hierarchs, professors or good parish priests, knowing how to emphasise the theological depth and spiritual beauty of the Orthodox liturgical life. Having had a good command of the classic languages (Greek and Latin) and of a few modern languages (French, German and Italian), Father Ene Braniste brought, through his writings, a great solid contribution to the development of the theological disciplines of Liturgics, Pastoral and Christian art. He remains in time a great teacher of Romanian theology”.

Then, His Eminence Laurentiu, Metropolitan of Transylvania evoked the personality of Father Professor Ene Braniste in a speech entitled The Divine Liturgy in the preoccupation and life of Father Professor Doctor Ene Braniste. His Eminence Casian Craciun, Archbishop of Lower Danube addressed, in his turn, appreciative words about the personality of the great expert in liturgics. To end with the festive opening session of the symposium, Rev. Univ. Prof. Dr. Nicolae D. Necula delivered a speech entitled Rev. Prof. Ene Braniste – commemoration of one century since his birth.
