Prince Charles of Wales about King Michael I of Romania: I’ve always admired his statesman-like qualities, his patience and his understanding about other people

In 2006, Prince Charles of Wales offered for the Romanian Television his remarks about King Michel of Romania. In the documentary entitled “King Michael – the 85th anniversary”, he said that he “always admired his statesman-like qualities, his patience and his understanding about other people”.

“He is one of those remarkable people who can remain calm and collected in all circumstances”, said Prince Charles in 2006.

Among the qualities of the late king, Prince Charles then pointed to the “endurance and fortitude” showed in those difficult moments throughout his life.

“It always seemed to me that it must have been the most traumatic period when he had to leave his own country so young in the face of this impossible circumstances and live abroad for the rest of his life”, said Prince Charles.

About the fact that King Michael had to stay away from Romania for a long time, Prince Charles said he could imagine “the heartbreaking nature of being separated” from the country and people that he loved so much.

Romania’s former King Michael I died on Tuesday, December 5, at age 96 at his Swiss home.
