On Sunday, August 8, 2021, His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel of Romania sent a message to Archbishop Hieronymos II of Athens and All Greece expressing the sympathy and solidarity of the entire Romanian Orthodox Church with the Greek people deeply affected by the vegetation fires:
Your Beatitude,
For several days we have been following with great concern the deep spiritual suffering and the many material damages caused by the vegetation fires in the north of Athens, on the island of Evia and in other areas of Greece.
In these difficult times for the Greek people, on behalf of the hierarchs, clergy and faithful of the Romanian Orthodox Church, we express our sympathy for the suffering of all those directly affected, as well as our solidarity with all those saddened by the fires.
We pray to God to protect all those who are fighting to extinguish the fires, and to give rest to the souls of those who have lost their lives in the peace and love of the crucified and risen Christ.
Having the conviction that, in this very difficult period in the life of the Greek people, the faith in God, expressed in prayer to Him, and the solidarity between people are of great use, we embrace you fraternally in Christ the Lord.

Μακαριώτατε,
Εδώ και αρκετές ημέρες παρακολουθούμε με μεγάλη ανησυχία τα βαθιά πνευματικά προβλήματα και τις πολλές υλικές ζημιές που προκλήθηκαν από τις πυρκαγιές στη βόρεια Αθήνα, στη νήσο της Εύβοιας όπως και σε άλλες περιοχές της Ελλάδος.
Σ΄αυτές της δύσκολες στιγμές δοκιμασίας για τον Ελληνικό Λαό, εις το όνομα των ιεραρχών, του κλήρου και των πιστών της Ορθοδόξου Ρουμανικής Εκκλησίας, εκφράζουμε τη συμπάθειά μας για τα δεινά όλων των άμεσα επηρεαζομένων, καθώς και την αλληλεγγύη μας προς όλους τους παθόντες από τις πυρκαγιές.
Προσευχόμαστε στον Θεό να προστατεύει όλους εκείνους που αγωνίζονται για την κατάσβεση των πυρκαγιών ενώ εκείνων που έχασαν τη ζωή τους να τους δώσει ανάπαυση στις ψυχές εις την ειρήνη και την αγάπη του Σταυροθέντος και Αναστάντος Χριστού.
Έχοντας την πεποίθηση ότι, σ΄αυτήν την πολύ δύσκολη περίοδο από την ζωή του Ελληνικού Λαού, η πίστη στον Θεό, που εκφράζεται με προσευχή προς Αυτόν όπως και η αλληλεγγύη μεταξύ των ανθρώπων θα δώσουν την αναγκαία βοήθεια, σας αγκαλιάζουμε αδελφικά εν Χριστώ.
