Patriarch Daniel meets with Secretary of State for Romanians abroad

His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel welcomed the Secretary of State for relations with Romanians abroad, Gheorghe Cârciu, at his patriarchal residence on March 29, 2023.

After the meeting, Secretary of State Gheorghe Cârciu highlighted the excellent collaboration between the Church and his department.

“Preserving the identity of Romanians outside the borders through educational projects, promoting culture or protecting the Romanian language, also needs the support and involvement of the Church, the place where communities find their spiritual refuge,” Gheorghe Cârciu noted.

“Regardless of which countries I have been to, I have always found openness on the part of the representatives of the Romanian churches,” the Secretary of State said.

In the trips carried out at the beginning of this year in France and Italy, Secretary of State Gheorghe Cârciu visited several Romanian parishes and had meetings with Bishop Siluan of Italy and Metropolitan Iosif of Western and Southern Europe. At the end of last year, the dignitary also met with Metropolitan Nicolae of the Americas in Chicago.
