On Tuesday, September 13, 2022, His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel welcomed at the patriarchal residence the Advisor for Religious Affairs to the President of the State of Palestine, Mr Mahmoud Al Habbash.
Mr Mahmoud Al Habbash thanked the Patriarch for the audience. On behalf of President Mahmoud Abbas, he conveyed warm wishes of health and success in the work of His Beatitude to serve the faithful of the Romanian Orthodox Church.
In this context, His Excellency recalled that he was visiting Romania to take part in the inauguration of a mosque in Ciocârlia, Constanta County.
His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel expressed his conviction that the Palestinian Authorities will continue to support Christian religious settlements, with special reference to the Romanian Orthodox Settlements in the Holy Land, including the functioning of the “Saint John Jacob” Centre for Studies and Pilgrimages at Jericho and the efforts of the Romanian Patriarchate to restore the Romanian Settlement in Jordan.
The Patriarch of Romania expressed his hope that, after the last two years marked by the effects of the pandemic and travel restrictions, the Romanian Orthodox faithful will intensify their pilgrimages to the Holy Land.
His Beatitude stressed the role of pilgrimages in maintaining and promoting a climate of peace and good understanding between Christians and other religious communities at the Holy Places.
