Patriarch Daniel meets with French Ambassador to Romania

His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel welcomed Wednesday, 17 January 2018, Her Excellency the French Ambassador to Romania Mrs. Michèle Ramis at his patriarchal residence in Bucharest.

The Romanian Patriarch wished Ambassador Michèle Ramis a successful diplomatic mission and appreciated her rich diplomatic, academic experience.

Her Excellency thanked for the reception and addressed wishes of welfare, stability, and progress to the believers of the Romanian Orthodox Church.

The Ambassador noted that she occasionally attends the divine services officiated at the Patriarchal Cathedral in Bucharest, adding that she appreciates the beauty of Orthodox chants.

Michèle Ramis stressed that the year 2018 – the centenary of the Romanian State – should be an occasion to recall the strong ties between France and Romania and to strengthen them even more.

In this context, His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel remembered the support of Romanians by France in the process of the state formation of Greater Romania and the contribution of French civilization to the founding of modern Romanian education, as well as the highlighting of the Romanian cultural heritage in general.

The French Ambassador showed her interest in the evolution of the works at the National Cathedral and appreciated the role and influence in society of the Romanian Orthodox Church.
