Patriarch Daniel extends condolences for Pope Francis’ passing

His Beatitude Daniel, Patriarch of the Romanian Orthodox Church, sent condolences for Pope Francis’ passing on Monday.

Pope Francis passed away on Monday, April 21, 2025, aged 88.

“We share in the grief caused by this loss and convey our condolences to the entire Roman Catholic Church,” wrote Patriarch Daniel.

Your Eminence,

With deep sorrow, we received the news about the passing from this world of Pope Francis, a venerable and well-known personality of contemporary Christianity, whose Pontificate leaves a profound mark on the recent history of the Roman Catholic Church.

We share in the grief caused by this loss and convey our condolences to the entire Roman Catholic Church.

We pray to the Lord Jesus Christ, who is the Resurrection and the Life (cf. John 11, 25), to rest the soul of Pope Francis in the light, peace and love of the Most Holy Trinity.
