Patriarch Daniel blesses children residing in the orphanage of the Intercession Monastery in Moscow

Patriarhul României i-a binecuvântat pe copiii găzduiţi în orfelinatul mănăstirii Pokrovsky

After celebrating the Sunday Divine Liturgy, His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel of Romania blessed the girls residing in the orphanage of the Intercession Stavropegic Monastery in Moscow. Following a religious and folk song concert performed by the choir of the orphanage on Dec. 3, His Beatitude appreciated the children and congratulated them for their effort.

The orphanage that was founded in 2004 with the blessing of Patriarch Alexy II assists girls ages 6 to 17 from Moscow and its suburbs from single-parent families with a delicate financial situation.

In his speech, Patriarch Daniel pointed to the social ministry carried out by the monastery located in Moscow and offered abbess Theophania as an example of one who manages to combine spiritual life and missionary work.

On this occasion, the Patriarch extended an invitation to the abbess to visit Romania to share with the clergy, monastics and believers, her rich spiritual and missionary experience acquired at the Intercession (Pokrovsky) Monastery.

It is noteworthy that this was the first visit ever paid by a Romanian Patriarch at the Intercession Stavropegic Monastery in Moscow.
