The Orthodox Deanery of Nicoresti within the Archdiocese of the Lower Danube in partnership with the Brahasesti Secondary School organized the sixth edition of the Football School Championship titled ‘Youth and Faith’ on Sunday, April 7, 2019.

The event hosted by the Brahasesti school’s gym gathered children from ten parishes Hânţeşti, Ţepu, Ghidigeni, Toflea, Braşăşti, Priponeşti, Ciorăşti, Tecucel, Poşta Berheci and Gohor.

As reported by the Archdiocese of Lower Danube, eight football teams took part in the competition, involving over 150 students, priests and sports instructors.

The purpose of the competition was to promote young people living in Romania’s villages, but also to express tolerance, cultural diversity and mutual respect for the good coexistence of all citizens, regardless of their ethnicity.

At the end, children were awarded diplomas and medals, and were offered sweets, icons and religious reviews on behalf of the Nicoresti Deanery.
