Nemțișor Camp celebrates 15th anniversary with special activities for over 500 youths

The Archdiocese of Iași celebrated the 15th anniversary of the Nemțișor Camp with special activities attended by more than 500 young people.

The anniversary edition took place from July 22 to July 25 in the Friendship Glade at Nemțișor, a scenic area located in Romania, specifically within the Neamț County in the historical region of Moldavia.

This area is known for its natural beauty and serves as a popular location for camps and outdoor activities organized by various groups, including the Archdiocese of Iași. The “Poiana Prieteniei” or “Friendship Glade,” where the Nemțișor Camp takes place, is a forested area that provides a peaceful setting for gatherings and events.

The camp program included dialogue sessions moderated by priests, sports tournaments, dance moments, film screenings, hiking, participation in church services, a flag parade, and more.

The theme of this year’s edition was “Passion – the Quest for Infinity in Finite Things.” Bishop Macarie of Northern Europe participated in the camp’s opening, inviting the young attendees to reflect on the experience of true joy and cautioning against how contemporary society packages and sells cheap thrills at a high price to eager consumers.

His Grace Bishop Damaschin of Dorna, the Assistant Bishop to the Archdiocese of Suceava and Rădăuți, gave a thematic lecture. Also, Archimandrite Nicodim Petre engaged in a spiritual dialogue with the youth.

“We thank God for the love with which He writes our story year after year, His Eminence Metropolitan Teofan for his blessing, all those who worked to make this meeting possible, and not least, the young participants with whom we spent a few days together in the vertical setting of Nemțișor Camp in the Friendship Glade,” expressed Georgiana Nistor, a volunteer with the Youth Department of the Archdiocese of Iași.

Toward the end of the gathering, the young participants and volunteers showcased their talents, followed by a campfire and an artistic moment performed by the group “Fetele din Botoșani.”
