“The Orthodox Church, in all its greatness and millennial wisdom, is, above all, a spiritual community, a Eucharistic gathering of the faithful, regardless of their geographical location,” His Eminence Metropolitan Petru of Bessarabia recalled in a message occasioned by Romanian Migrants’ Sunday.
“Our Christian faith transcends earthly borders and addresses the hearts and souls of people, regardless of their cultural or social context.”
The Metropolitan of Bessarabia noted that for the Orthodox, “the Church is the meeting space between heaven and earth, between eternity and time, and this means that it crosses time and space, accompanying the faithful in all their journeys, be they material or spiritual.”
“On this Sunday of Romanian Migrants, we remind that we are a community united under the tricolour, a family established by Christ himself, who unites us in an unchanging covenant of divine love.”
“In a world where physical distances are diminished by technological means, we invite you to the responsibility to support each other in new and profound ways, to share our experiences and to preach the gospel message in every corner of the world,” His Eminence Metropolitan Petru urged.
The Romanian Orthodox Church set aside a special day to remember all Romanians who live abroad on the first Sunday after the feast of the Dormition of the Theotokos.
