Metropolitan Petru calls for prayer for founders of Bessarabia’s Union with Romania

The Metropolitan of Bessarabia urged ‘all those who feel Romanian to intensify their prayers’ and remember the founders of the historical event of March 27, 1918, when the region united with the Kingdom of Romania.

In his message marking the 102nd anniversary of the Union of Bessarabia with Romania, Metropolitan Petru recalled the important role played by clergy in the achievement of national unity.

‘These should be honoured and remembered in our prayers, because many of them, surely today, enjoy communion with the saints of God in His kingdom.’

His Eminence wished the Romanians from the ‘long-tried land of Bessarabia’ peace, good health, joy and much help from God ‘to be able to overcome these difficult times.’

‘We hope that these hard times will be a reason for meditation and belief that we can be stronger together against every danger,’ Metropolitan Petru said March 27.
