Metropolitan Ioan of Banat celebrates his name day among homeless people, pledges to find jobs for them

Metropolitan Ioan of Banat celebrated his name day among homeless people from Timișoara, on January 7, St John the Baptist day in the Romanian Orthodox Church calendar.

“These are some of my friends from Timișoara. There was nowhere I could have felt better after church than among these people whose only hope is God,” said the Metropolitan.

“We have tried to offer them comfort through gifts and kind words.”

“We stand by them and try to offer them support in finding jobs,” Metropolitan Ioan added after he visited “St Francis” Emergency Social Centre in Timișoara.

“There are some young people here who can gradually integrate into society and the workforce. Thus, they shall be able to confront this sea of troubles by themselves. They are somewhat happy here, but the troubles come when they get out and face the harsh life which so many times tries us all.”

Metropolitan Ioan offered homeless people a meal and clothing.

Food packages were offered to homeless people who live in 11 containers connected to utilities at the Support Centre for Emergency and Crisis Situations from Pădurea Verde, Timișoara county, Romania.
