His Eminence Metropolitan Ioan of Banat on Sunday urged prayer for families and called for an end to violence against women.
“I would raise a prayer to God to bless our country, Banat and the whole world,” the metropolitan said.
“To you, my brothers, I have one request: let us pray for families, because in the past year, every week a mother, a wife, a daughter was killed. Brothers—men—stop! Do not kill our mothers, wives and daughters anymore!”
“This is my prayer to you. May God bless you all!” he concluded, his voice choked with emotion.
Metropolitan Ioan made the appeal at the opening meeting of the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity, held at the Roman Catholic Cathedral in Timișoara.
