Holy Synod secretary meets with representatives of Montenegrin Embassy to Bucharest

His Grace Patriarchal Auxiliary Bishop Varlaam of Ploiești, Secretary of the Holy Synod, welcomed His Excellency Mr Dalibor Đurović, Chargé d’Affaires of the Embassy of Montenegro in Bucharest, at the Patriarchal Palace on Wednesday, November 6, 2024.

Mr. Đurović was accompanied by Ms. Diandra Iluțan Podăreanu, head of the Ambassador’s office at the Montenegrin Embassy in Bucharest.

Bishop Varlaam of Ploiești extended a warm welcome to the Montenegrin delegation and conveyed the blessings of His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel. His Grace also underscored the robust collaborative relationship between Romania and Montenegro.

Mr. Đurović responded by expressing his appreciation for his cordial reception at the Romanian Patriarchate and emphasising Romania’s backing of Montenegro’s endeavours to become a member of the European Union.

His Excellency also noted the annual pilgrimages that numerous Orthodox Christians from the Balkans, including Montenegro, make to Iași for the feast day of Saint Paraskeva, a celebration that symbolises Orthodox unity in Eastern Europe.

Mr. Đurović was assured of the Romanian Patriarchate’s ongoing support by Bishop Varlaam, who also wished him great success in his diplomatic role in Romania at the conclusion of the meeting.

The Montenegrin delegation toured the significant chambers of the Patriarchal Palace following the discussions.
